Lot Essay

Compare with two Qianlong marked ru-type vases of this rare form. The first published in the Illustrated Catalogue of Tokyo National Museum, Chinese Ceramics, II, 1990, no. 721, from the collection of Hirota Matsushige; the second also from a Japanese collection, sold in these Rooms, 30 May 2005, lot 1487.

The very pale celadon glaze recalls another smaller vase of related form sold in these Rooms, 30 May 2005, lot 1486.
