The picnic set consisting a black lacquer flush-fitting cover revealing a carrying frame fitted with a gilt bronze handle, a three-tier box and cover, two trays, a bottle-holder and a bottle, the interior of the frame, box and trays of red lacquer, all the other surfaces of nashiji with fundame rims and decorated in gold hiramaki-e, togidashi-e, kin-fun, nashiji, mother-of-pearl and tin sheet inlay, the frame with fans, the box and cover in katami-gawari [divided-in-two-halves] with half of the design of fans on a black ground and the other half with cherry blossom on a nashiji ground, the upper tray with cherry blossoms and the bottom tray with branches of plum and pine, the bottle of polished pewter, some old wear, minor cracks
