Lot Essay

Prince Henry was the first Royal Governor-General of Australia from 1945 to 1947, acting as the King's representative and head of State. Prince Henry was not seen as a gregarious man by the Australian people, but made a strong impression as someone who was prepared to listen to the problems of others, and give advice in a sincere manner. The great General MacArthur, who was highly informed about Australian affairs, commmented that he had done a good job and that Australian opinion was disappointed he could not stay longer.
