8° (159 x 95mm). Half-title. 4 engraved plates by Stothard after Neagle, Heath and Parker. 19th-century English vellum, BOTH COVERS WITH AN ORIGINAL DRAWING IN BROWN BODYCOLOUR OF A GENTLEMAN OUT SHOOTING, FORE-EDGE PAINTING OF A HARE-COURSING SCENE (covers bowed).

AN ATTRACTIVE SPORTING BINDING, the drawing on front cover showing a gentleman in open country loading his gun attended by two dogs; that on the back showing the same gentleman shooting in a wood. Further enhanced by an unusual fore-edge subject where two greyhounds pursue a hare. Late edition of Armstrong's didactic poem covering subjects such as air, diet, exercise, and the passions.
