The hood with lunette moulded arch, inset front columns and sound frets to the sides, with line inlays and lenticle glass to the trunk door, above a plinth raised on an outswept skirting, the 12 in. wide brass dial with female mask and foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour and diamond half quarter hour markers, matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring and date aperture, blued steel later hands, strike/silent lever by 10, the arch and orbs with foliate scroll engraving, engraved and painted rolling moon and plaque bearing probably spurious signature FROMANTEEL &CLARKE, the long duration movement with five pillars, anchor escapement and Dutch strike on two bells, the back plate slotting into a securing bracket on the backboard; -- 88./12 in. (225 cm.) high; probably 19th Century, case reveneered, two brass weights, pendulum
