A fine early 19th-Century model of a single cylinder rotative side lever beam engine,
with cylinder 2in. bore x 2½in. stroke, inward facing separate valve chest, the valve driven via a lift-off eccentric rod with pierced balanced eccentic and rocking levers, inlet and exhaust pipes with stop valve, the piston rod crosshead linked to one beam through barrelled radius rods and cranks, the crankshaft trunnions supported on six tapered columns and pierced cast frames, the barrelled connecting rod with shaped little end yoke and links, the big end with gibbed and bolted split brasses and shaped crankshaft with spoked flywheel, finished in green and polished brightwork, cast bed and mahogany base -- 45.7 x 45.7cm. (18 x 18in.)
