A well engineered and decorative late 19th-Century model of a twin cylinder horizontal mill engine,
with cylinders 1¼in. bore x 2in. stroke with centrally mounted overhead valve chests, the valves operated by horizontal counter shafts with barrelled links and rocking levers, inlet manifold and pipes with stop valves and lubricators, pedestal mounted crosshead guides, barrelled connecting rods with gibbed and cottered big ends, rope driven pedestal mounted Watt-type governor, linkage and valves and centrally mounted spoked flywheel, finished in green and polished brightwork and mounted on two ferrous metal engine beds on simulated grey brick plinths, mahogany display base -- 33 x 52cm. (13 x 20½in.)
