The canted rectangular top fixed with a small solid-galleried rectangular table with cabriole legs, above a plain frieze, on cabriole legs joined by a platform stretcher, with foliate scrolled sabots, stamped 'MORANT & CO. 91 NEW BOND ST. LONDON', inscribed in chalk '38 334'

Lot Essay

The French-fashioned and tray-topped tea-table (or table en cabaret) bears the brand of the New Bond Street firm Morant & Co., who were established in the late 1850s and merged in the early 20th century with Messrs Lenygon to become the renowned decorators Lenygon and Morant.
