A THREE-BARRELLED HAND-ROTATED FLINTLOCK PISTOL, DUTCH OR FLEMISH
circa 1655-60
With round barrels joined by a trefoil band at the muzzle, rotating on a common breech-block enclosed by a steel sleeve and locked by the sliding forward arm of the trigger-guard, plain rounded lock, characteristically shaped early cock and steel, figured walnut butt inlaid with a plain diamond-shaped bone plaque behind the breech tang and with another, a slipped-circle, impaled by the side-nail, flattened pommel with domed iron cap pierced at the base and seated on a fillet of contrasting fruitwood, and the principal screw-heads engraved with pairs of laurel branches.
