AN UNUSUAL PAIR OF OVER-AND-UNDER LONG FLINTLOCK TAP-ACTION TURN-OFF PISTOLS BY ROSE & GILL
circa 1804-08
With long brass turn-off barrels numbered 1-4, brass actions engraved with trophies-of-arms carrying an oval both left and right, the former signed by the makers and the latter inscribed 'London', fitted with tap-levers on the left, engraved thumbpiece safety-catches also locking the steels, chequered swelling walnut butts, engraved steel trigger-guards each with original sling-swivel, and vacant escutcheons, London proof marks (the barrels and butts bruised).
