THIRD QUARTER 18TH CENTURY
The shaped rectangular moulded top above a mahogany slide and four graduated drawers between stop-fluted angles headed by foliage, on ogee bracket feet, with sunk wood castors, the handles apparently original, repairs to the feet

Lot Essay

An almost identical commode, also with spirally-ribbon wrapped foliate flutes, was sold by Edward Hudson, Esq. (founder of Country Life), in these Rooms, 27 April 1937, lot 346. Another was sold anonymously, in these Rooms, 14 June 2001, lot 193 and another was sold anonymously, Christie's, New York, 24 January 1992, lot 226.
