[ELIZABETH I]. Document on vellum, Westminster, 20 June 1577, a pardon of alienation for Francis Rodes Esquire for the manor of Handley and 12 messuages, six cottages, and extensive further properties including 100 acres of meadow and a similar extent of pasture in Staveley, Handley and Stanfield in Derbyshire, 16 lines in Latin, issued by Edward Bacon (1548/9-1618) as clerk in chancery for licences and pardons of alienations, signature on turn-up of 'Jo: Gybon', initial letter decorated with pen flourishes, 140 x 320mm, Great Seal of Elizabeth I (rubbed and chipped) on leather tag).
