26,000 miles, one owner from new
1997 BENTLEY TURBO RT FOUR DOOR SALOON
Registration No. R962 TGF
Chassis No. (SCBZP23C1WC)H66417
Dark metallic blue with red coachline and blue leather interior
Engine: eight cylinders in 90 degree Vee, turbocharged, 6,750cc, 400bhp; Gearbox: four speed automatic; Suspension: independent front with coil springs and anti-roll bar and independent rear with coil springs and automatic levelling; Brakes: discs all round. Right hand drive.
Bentley retained its position as the "driver's Rolls-Royce" with a succession of increasingly powerful variations on its theme. The last of these before the Mulsanne style was replaced by the Arnage was the Turbo RT, the rarest and most powerful of the line. Introduced in 1997, this bruiser boasted 400bhp, a staggering 590lb.ft. of torque, and a host of chassis-revisions and techno-gadgetry to keep it on the road. With what one journalist described as "a tidal wave of uninterupted power", it represented the zenith of luxurious high-speed motoring, and was rendered all the more desirable by a production run of just 50.
The beautiful example offered here has been in the same ownership since new, during which time it has covered fewer than 26,000 miles. The regal paintwork enjoys few flaws, although it is unfortunately true that usage can never escape evidence; there is some slight scratching to the lip of the boot lid, and a very small dent in the bonnet. The interior, however, is immaculate, and privacy is ensured by slightly darkened glass in all windows. Having enjoyed regular servicing by Jack Barclay and permanent garaging, it looks and runs as expected and, accompanied by its full history, would make a superbly rare yet highly usable addition to any stable.
