Engraved by Daniel Nikolaus Chodowiecki, popular Prussian painter and engraver of the 18th century. Trumps are full-length figures, double-ended ornate Roman numerals, French or German titles, depicting drama scenes from Macbeth and Gil Blas, trump IX Macbeth is a figure of the English actor, Garrick, trump XV is without a title. Courts are full-length figures, French suits, full gilt edges, square corners, valet of hearts holds a shield with a large "B," valet of diamonds bears the letter "B" on its breast plate, no indices. Backs are overall small suns in blue. Size 4 1/8 in. (10.4 cm.) high, 2 3/16 in. (5.4 cm.) wide. Original paste board two-piece box with word TAROCC.
