The courts are comical images, the king of spades smokes a pipe, the queen holds a spoon, and the jack holds a shovel, a one-eyed king of clubs and a head-bandaged jack hold clubs while the queen holds a pickled cucumber with a fork, the king and jack of hearts have red noses and are smoking, the queen holds a red rose, and in the suit of diamonds the court cards are appropriately shown with diamonds. Courts are double ended, indices, round corners, full gilt edges.
