The inscription can be translated as follows:
Ye hui jia pa qiu ben chou ('wild flowers and grown blossoms are still abundant in automn')
Ju hua kai ji zhong fang shou ('as soon as chrysanthemums bloom, all other beauties retreat')
Nu yi shei dao wei si yan ('who says that Nuyi only cares for the bright-coloured ?')
Ke zhi you zhen qi du tou ('know that it is the subtle and the truthful that please her')
