Early 17th-century Saxonian blindstamped pigskin over paste boards tools signed with initials L.B. of Goerlitz with central plate on upper cover depicting Judith and central plate on lower cover depicting Jael driving a tent-pin into Sisera's temple, roll tool of "Fides, Forti[tudo], Carit[as] and Spes" all signed LB, upper cover stamped with initials "MET" and dated 1604. Provenance: C.F. Temmler (signature dated 1736 on title); Gilbert R. Redgrave, London (signature, dated 1888 on title); purchased from Harry A. Levinson, 1 August 1956.
