FIRST EDITION. The Imperial Austrian State Printing Office in Vienna became one of the world's outstanding printing establishments under the direction of Alois Auer. In this work, Auer gives a survey of the different processes of graphic reproduction used by the Staatsdruckerei which were exhibited at the Great Exhibition in London in 1851. The interesting plates show specimens of photography, microtypy, lithography, chalcography, siderography, galvanography, nature printing, xylography, etc. At the end are two double-page plates with type-specimens and examples of type measuring. VERY RARE: according to American Book Prices Current no copy has appeared at auction in at least the past 25 years. Bigmore & Wyman I.23.
