AN UNUSUAL GEORGE III SILVER WARMING STAND,
MARK OF JOHN SCOFIELD, LONDON, 1793,
Of saucepan form with plain, tapering sides, the base pierced with slats for draining above a fixed draining pan, the whole raised on 3 fleur-de-lys & hoof feet, baluster wood side handle, the rim fitted with 3 hinged supports to hold a dish, the interior with screw-in spirit lamp made to take 3 wicks, base later inscribed underneath with 3 small initials, 6 in. diameter (15.2 cm.), 6½ in. high (16.5 cm.), 31 oz.
