Each with a square flush-paneled top within a mitred frame and 'ice-plate' edge above a narrow waist supported on a plain, thick apron, the square-section legs joined by humpback stretchers and terminating in inward-curving hoof feet, the underside with a pair of transverse braces

Lot Essay

Typical of Chinese multifunctional furniture, these stoutly made stools, with thick aprons compensating structurally for the stretcherless design, could equally be used as small tea tables or stands.
