A silver and parcel gilt figure of Tara
Tibeto-Chinese, Qianlong period, 18th century
Seated in lalitasana on a double-lotus base, the right hand in vadara mudra and the left hand in gesture of teaching, each holding a lotus stem rising to either shoulder, wearing a thin dhoti incised with a floral pattern and secured at the waist with a jeweled belt, a pendant sash tied on either side, adorned with multiple jeweled necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, partially inlaid with hardstones, the benign face crowned with a foliate tiara, the base gilt

This is an exceptionally finely executed figure of Tara, heavily cast in silver which is very rarely employed in this context.
