A Small Covered Earthenware Vase
Meiji period (19th century), gilt seal Yabu Meizan
The compressed ovoid jar fitted with a cover in the manner of a tea jar, decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt on a clear crackled glaze with children studying calligraphy and painting with their teachers, the foot painted with a narrow band of scrolling vines and the cover and shoulder painted with a "cloth cover" slightly raised in relief and decorated with chrysanthemum heads
