A decorative wall piece made from two disks of clear acrylic plastic onto which gold-colored graphic art has been applied, sunburst design features the Bajoran symbol, outer disk --29in. diam. -- this piece hung in Major Kira's quarters aboard the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and in other apartments on the station

Lot Essay

Scenic artist Doug Drexler was responsible for the Bajoran graphic on this piece. The center features the Bajoran symbol, but Drexler made the outer portion by taking a digital drawing of the S.S. Botany Bay from "Space Seed" in Star Trek: The Original Series, then making 40 copies, rotating and overlapping each copy slightly. The result was this Bajoran mandala.
