Lot Essay

The subject of the present work is an old breakwater at Weston-super-Mare that had been given the name 'Seven Sisters' by locals. Ostensibly a simple seaside view, the composition contains all the turmoil and desolation caused by the War and reminds the viewer of the tragic images of the front in the First World War.
