Lot Essay

The present work was painted while the artist was living at 66 Claverton Street in Pimlico and looks in the direction of the Thames. Some of the cranes on the far side of the river are just visible beyond the rooftops together with one of the chimneys, still standing defiantly after the Blitz, of Battersea Power Station on the left.
