Lot Essay

As of the time of cataloguing no other vase of this form appears to be recorded in the literature. The proportion of the stand appears to be slightly large when compared with the foot, however, the vase was clearly designed to take a mount. Based on the wear pattern, it is likely that the present stand has been with the piece since the time of manufacture.
