EINSTEIN, Albert (1879-1955). Autograph letter signed ('Albert') to his first wife, Mileva, Berlin, n.d., half page, 4to, on verso of a letter from his elder son, Hans Albert, 27 January 1927, who notes 'Papa was very happy that I found the job myself -- i.e. without him'.
FURTHER OPPOSITION TO HIS SON'S MARRIAGE: Einstein's frank note on the back of a letter from Hans Albert gives a warm view of his son's character, but a very negative one of his marriage and child-bearing prospects, with a woman [Frieda Knecht] of whom his parents disapprove, and whose genetic heritage Einstein considers suspect: 'Adu is a splendid chap, and has become a real man, who knows what he wants (and unfortunately does what she wants). I haven't bothered him very much, but gave him my opinion on the subject of having children with great seriousness. I have no idea if it will help'.
