A RARE METAL YAHRZEIT LAMP
probably Transylvania, Cluj, circa 1910
A square construction set in the form of a Torah-Ark, composed of 25 separate pieces, set on an elaborate podium decorated on each side with different symbols of the zodiac within an arched gate flanked by obelisks, the square structure above fitted on the front with a cut beveled glass hinged door, shaped to resemble the Tablets of the Law, inscribed in Hungarian: "In memory of my mother's soul", set within an architectural gate, topped by a monumental double Star of David, the interior fitted for electricity, the detachable roof with obelisk on each corner, surmounted by an open-worked dome pierced in the form of a Star of David topped by a large spread eagle and ball finial - 33 cm high
