We are grateful to Dr. Luisa Vertova Nicolson for noting that this picture should be catalogued as Studio of Bernardino Licinio (Venice c. 1489-after 1565); it is a variant of the composition in the Pinacoteca di Brera (no. 731). She observes that whilst the Head of the Madonna is from the studio, it would appear that the Head of the Baptist may be by Bernardino himself, and probably portrays the donor. She will be publishing this picture in a forthcoming article on Bernardino Licinio and his workshop.
