A rare Laughing Roosevelt Bear
with bright gold mohair, orange and black glass eyes, prounced muzzle, black stitched horizontal nose, mouth opening when front squeezed to reveal red painted wooden mouth with painted and two milk glass teeth, swivel head, jointed limbs with black stitched claws, low pitched squeaker, Theodore Roosevelt pin and Stars and Stripe bow-tie, possibly Columbia Manufacturing Company, circa 1907 --18in. (45.5cm.) high (some general thinning and wear, pads recovered and balding to backs of legs)

Lot Essay

Both bears in this lot and lot 133 have previously been attributed to the Columbia Manufacturing Company, but they are obviouosly by different manufaturers. It is possible that other companies copied this style of bear and produced them under a different name.
