A rare Laughing Roosevelt Bear
with blonde mohair, black boot button eyes, central facial seam and seam from ear to ear, carton head with pull-cord mechanism in back of head to operate opening mouth, swivel head, jointed limbs and hump, possibly Columbia Manufacturing Company, circa 1907 --18in. (45.5cm.) high (missing inside of mouth, bald spot on right arm and hump, some general wear and thinning and pads recovered)

Lot Essay

Both bears in this lot and lot 132 have been previously attributed to the Columbia Manufacturing Company, but they are obviouosly by different manufaturers. It is possible that other companies copied this style of bear and produced them under a different name.
