A well engineered late 19th-century single cylinder horizontal mill engine,
with brass-bound wood lagged cylinder 2in. bore x 3¼in. stroke, studded stuffing boxes, bar-type crosshead guides, barrelled connecting rod with gibbed and cottered bolted big and little ends, trunnion mounted main bearings and spoked flywheel, finished in grey, green and polished brightwork, cast bed and wood plinth -- 23.5 x 56cm. (9¼ x 22in.)
