Three Japanese ivory Shibayama style pieces, Late 19th Century
the first in the form of a long paper knife incised with cranes before a tall tree inlaid with stained ivory, mother of pearl and tortoise shell leaves below lacquered birds in flight - 21 3/8in. (54.3cm.) high; a hinged inlaid cigarette box depicting flowering peonies and birds in blossoming branches; a three case inro and cover with lacquered decoration of cockerels and bamboo with inlaid butterflies; and an ivory bezique counter with incised decoration of monkeys and insects.
