A Japanese laquered wood figure of koma inu, temple guardian dog, Momoyama period
seated on its haunches, the head turned to the left and carved with a fierce expression, the eyes picked out in black, the tongue in red, the swirling mane and tail in blue and yellow and the body in brown-red -- 23¾in. (60.3cm.) high.
