RECEIPT BOOK. Manuscript on paper, 'Koch Buch worin alles so zur Kuchenmeisterey gehörig zu finden', [early 18th Century], frontispiece drawing in bodycolour showing an elegant couple in a patterned border with a dedication verse (pasted in), the volume containing several hundred receipts chiefly in a single formal 18th-century hand on approximately 452 pages, 4to, with some later additions, paginated (some light spotting, a few worm holes in pp.1-252), 'Register' [index] at end on 15 leaves, including lists of the receipts by type (meat, cakes, vegetables etc). Contemporary vellum boards (lacking ties).
The attractive dedication page and the formal nature of the script suggest that this receipt book would have been intended as a gift.
