Compare the similar ivory hu inscribed with an inscription dated to the jiawu year of Wanli (1594) included in the exhibition, Chinese Ivories from the Kwan Collection, Art Gallery, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 28 July - 14 October 1990, pp. 210-11, no. 91, which also has a rounded end.
