A 19TH CENTURY AUSTRALIAN SILVER-MOUNTED EMU EGG COVERED CUP,
MARK OF WILLIAM EDWARDS, MELBOURNE, CIRCA 1861/65,
The oval mounted egg body with hinged cover & gilt interior, with a lyrebird atop pendent fruiting vines at either end, raised upon crossed palm trees on a rocky, shaped oval base, the cover affixed with two emus (one detached) on a leafy base, (egg a/f), 8¾ in. high (22 cm.)
