AN APULIAN RED FIGURE BELL KRATER
4TH CENTURY B.C.
Side A: a draped female figure running to the right, wearing necklace, earrings and bracelets, a radiate stephane in her bound hair, holding a ribboned torch and a casket, her head turned back looking towards a naked youth behind her, a cloak over his left arm, holding a situla and a thyrsos, hanging fillets and flowers in the field
Side B: two standing draped youths, each carrying a long staff, a stylized leaf(?) between them, a writing tablet bound with horizontal stylus above
Meander frieze with crossed and dotted squares below, a laurel wreath below the rim, palmettes with scrolling tendrils below each handle, details in added white and yellow
