Lot Essay

Accompanied by an Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives confirming the date of manufacture of this steel reference 570 as 1937 and its subsequent sale on September 15th of the same year. The extract further records that the original case was replaced by the case bearing the number 647.692 during a service in 1968. It is interesting to note though that according to our research, the steel cased used by Patek Philippe as a replacement in 1968 was originally delivered by Wenger in 1947.

To the best of our knowledge, this watch has never before appeared at auction.

Patek Philippe commenced production of the reference 570 "Calatrava" in 1938 with the caliber 12-120 with subsidiary seconds. The following year production began on a 570 model with center seconds using the caliber 12 SC. This famed wristwatch is best known for its large size "Calatrava" case.
