8o (195 x 110 mm). (A few occasional small stains.) Contemporary American reverse-calf wallet binding, cord tie (flap joint split). Provenance: Robert Smith (contemporary ownership inscription on title: "Roberth Smith his Book Pd. in Philadelphia in the year 1789 Price £1 6s 6d").

A FINE CONTEMPORARY AMERICAN WALLET BINDING. Later editions are attributed by Evans and Rink to John Robertson. This edition, the earliest located in the American Antiquarian Society, is presumably the first. It is not listed separately in Evans, though the AAS notes that it was issued with Robert Gibson's A Treatise on Practical Surveying (Evans 19026). VERY RARE: according to American Book Prices Current, no early editions of the Tables have been sold in at least 30 years. Rink Technical Americana 2371; Not in Evans.
