The spherical body on short slightly spread foot rising to tall tubular neck, with a wide collar from which extends the straight handle, the body decorated with a large band of bold kufic against a background of tight scrolls, a band of white naskh below and the underside with a series of large roundels, another calligraphic register runs close to the neck, intact, slight surface iridescence

Round the body in cursive: a quatrain in Persian, followed by a benedictory couplet in Arabic and a benedictory couplet in Persian. For similar Persian inscriptions, see Ernst J. The Arabic translates: "The good remains no matter how much time passes; And evil is more wicked than you could take" (quoted in Kalila wa Dimna, edited by M. Minovi, Tehran, 1361, p. 407.
