Lot Essay

The present composition resembles a picture in the Musées Royeaux des Beaux-Arts, Brussels. The painter of that work is described by Gerd Unverfehrt as belonging to the so called Mandyn-Huys-group (see G. Unverfehrt, Hieronymus Bosch. Die Rezeption seiner Kunst im frühen 16. Jahrhunderts, Berlin, 1980, p. 282, no. 131, illustrated).
