A painted pottery figure of a lokapala guardian, Tang dynasty (618-907)
standing with his hands raised, wearing a helmet with an upturned rim and a tall finial crowning the well defined face with a fierce expression, the armour with an owl-like motif above the painted decoration and scales, traces of red, white, green and black pigments -- 24in. (60.9cm.) high.
