CHINE, DYNASTIE QING, FIN DE L'EPOQUE QIANLONG (1736-1795)
Reposant sur trois pieds cambrés en forme de dragons, la gueule ouverte et menaçante, le corps couvert d'écailles vertes et bleues, la panse globulaire ornée de six médaillons polylobés en bronze à décor en relief de branchages fleuris sur fond martelé, l'ensemble réservé sur fond émaillé de rinceaux feuillagés et pivoines, les anses en forme de têtes de chimères soutenant un anneau, le couvercle bombé reprenant le même décor que la panse, la prise en forme de chimère assise ; éléments rapportés et petits accidents

Lot Essay

Compare with a very similar censer from the Qing Court Collection, standing on the same three feet and with identical decoration on the body (with bronze panels reserved on a cloisonné 'lotus' ground) illustrated in Metal-bodied Enamel Ware - The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong 2002, p.158, pl.150. The illustration shows the original handles and finial.
