The M.C.C. produced the first official Laws of the Game of Cricket in 1788. These Laws are printed in the above copy of The London Chronicle. It is believed this is THE FIRST PRINTING OF THE 1788 M.C.C. LAWS OF CRICKET IN AN ENGLISH NEWSPAPER. No copy in M.C.C. archives.
A Grand Cricket match between Lord Winchelsea and Lord Thanet is reported in the above copy of The Morning Post, whilst a match between the Garrison of Dublin and an All Ireland Eleven is reported in The General Evening Post. The New-York Tribune describes the match between the All England Eleven and American Twenty-Two on 12 October, 1859, commenting on the performance of such notable players as Julius Caesar, Caffyn, Lillywhite and Wisden, and describing the All England Eleven's play "both at the bat and in the field" as "a delightful sight".
