A BERLIN (K.P.M.) TWO-HANDLED CIRCULAR TUREEN AND COVER FROM A SERVICE MADE FOR FREDERICK THE GREAT
CIRCA 1775, BLUE SCEPTRE MARK, INCISED / AND PRESSNUMMER 23
The tureen painted with two large central bouquets and with further bouquets below insects on two scroll-moulded Reliefzierat panels of vertical staves woven with branches centred by foliate-scroll handles enriched in green, puce and gilding, below a gilt foliage border at the rim, the domed cover similarly decorated below a seated boy finial in a tricorn hat, ochre jacket and purple breeches, holding a root vegetable and a posy and with a basket of flowers over his arm (very slight chipping to hat, minute chipping to handles, areas of slight wear to gilding)
