AN ITALIAN BACK-PLATE ETCHED IN LATE 16TH CENTURY 'PISAN' STYLE
19th Century
Correctly contoured and shaped, decorated with characteristic bands of trophies and masks, the central band involving a classical warrior beneath a pair of classical head medallions below the neck, also involving a soldier in late 16th Century dress immediately below the neck, with turned edges, those at the neck and arms cut with simple cabling, and struck with a mark on the left side.
