A PAIR OF SOUTH GERMAN COMPOSITE CUISSES AND POLEYNS
Circa 1550-60
Each constructed of eight upwardly overlapping lames, fitted with a pair of winged poleyns, the latter incorporating a single articulation above and two articulations below, the lower plates each pierced for a pair of turning-pins, with turned edges throughout, the edges filled with variously differing nodular patterns, studded with domed brass rivets, and fitted with later leather straps.
