This scroll is registered as Juyo Bijutsuhin (Important Art Object) by the Cultural Ministry of Japan, with a certificate dated 1937.8.28.
Emperor Go-Tsuchimikado was the 103rd emperor of Japan and the first son of Emperor Go-Hanazono.
These three poems were probably composed at a poetry competition on the day of the Tanabata festival (7th day, 7th month) in 1483 at the Imperial Palace in Kyoto.
The poems read:
Tanabata wa kazoeya shiran yatokoto ni
Naete tamushiru hana no chigusa o
Wakemayou sode no tsuyu niwa ominaeshi
Hana mo aware to nabiku nobe kana
Kusaki niwa otosenu hito no akikaze o
Wagami hitotsu ni odorokaretsutsu
