A Suit of Armor with a Hotoke Do
Edo Period (18th-19th century)
Laced in purple, the suit comprising an iron zunari helmet lacquered black and mounted with a four-lame neck guard and small turnbacks, the sides of the bowl fitted with two large black-lacquer wing wakidate, gold-lacquer disc maedate, the russet-iron face mask applied with a boar-bristle moustache and chin tuft, fitted with a four-lame solid-plate throat guard; black lacquer ni-mai Hotoke do fitted with seven sections of five-lame tassets; chu-sode; chain mail and splint sleeves; splint shin guards; no storage box; armor stand
